If America does not get welfare reform under control, it will bankrupt America. But the Heritage Foundation's Robert Rector has a five-step plan to reform welfare while protecting our most vulnerable.

  • War against the poor...nice. I think there are plenty of things that could be cut first before you go ahead and take welfare away.

  • What a stupid video.

Welfare "reform" in 1996 didn't put anybody back to work, you morons.

  • @Jesscomena & seriously, I'm not responsible for anyone elses actions, & I've been paying taxes longer than you so you should be thanking me.& I'm not asking for shit, I want the government to raise my taxes as well as everyone elses. I'm happy to contribute, unlike you whom is too self centered to even care about the fact if you are alive in twenty years, you'll have to either pay even more taxes to pay the debt or deal with hyper inflation.

  • @Jesscomena & I'm so sorry I paid for your education. & Sorry 6 figures typo. Seriously you're retarded.

  • @yellowkrux i'm so glad to have raised your family, you should be thanking me, not telling me i need to give you more money. your parents made the irresponsible decsion to have kids they couldnt care for. so i and every other working american must take care of you, and we didn't even get to enjoy the sex it took to make you. and are you really proud of almost 5 figures? that less than 10k a year

  • @shybanks1 yes there are many people that need help, but do you really believe 30,000,000 people "NEED" to be given help. the government isn't this faceless entity that just gives money away, it is made up of people. these people are forced into helping 10% of the population, and there are no incentives to get off of the teet. look at the average life span of government housing, (15 years) you don't appreciate what you don't work for! why can't we be responsible for our own success or failure?

  • @shybanks1 no because welfare is a crippling system that is abused and defers personal responsibility. why else would the government consider third generation welfare recipents "disabled". why does the government sponser irresponsiblility. don't just look at welfare, include government housing, social security, food stamps and the such. then you should look at the fact that only 59% of the population pays taxes. it is very unsustanable and we're forcing the people to dependant on others

  • Wait, do you realize that welfare is the smallest amount of the governments' budget? This video is misleading and makes it seem asif the government puts out a lot of money for people on welfare. If this was true, wouldn't there be less people homeless and starving? Wouldn't there be less people dying of diseases that they cannot afford to treat?

  • Now I see welfare children on video games our tax dollars are misused

  • @nef2442 Again, I'm not afraid of the word socialism, I was raised on medicaide, as where my siblings, we all work my brothermakes nearly 5 figures a year. Also, anyone who say "the problem with socialism is you run out of other peoples money" has no idea what socialism is. The really problem with socialism is concentrated power, everyone with half a mind realizes this.

  • @yellowkrux I'm a Puerto Rican the 12th child in a family of 15 we were raised on welfare and medicaid. Many families like my own have spiraled into the pitfalls of a culture of dependency created by Democrats. If you want to see what America is going to look like in the near future look at Puerto Rico as a microcosm, 30% unemployment 70% of the island is on welfare or some kind of government hand out. The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!
