Again, my favorite violinist, Jascha Heifetz. This is actually one of my favorite recordings. Its a beautiful and seldom-heard peice by Albeniz that brings me to tears every time I hear it, especially at around 2:55. Enjoy!

  • are you kidding me with these ads?

  • @delameu sorry, not sure how they got there :)

  • who made this transcription for violin?

  • @L0RGAN I have a suspicion that it was Heifetz. He was known to do that from time to time (like with Figaro). But don't take my word, I really don't know who else would have transcribed it.

  • Dear Aimson, How can we thank you enough? It is like listening to the most sublime god in the entire violinistic heaven. I still want to write something about Heifetz's art, but I feel inadequate because I AM inadequate. How does a mere mortal write about a god? Please keep on posting for us. Thanks!

  • Wow, I didn't expect such an elated response on Youtube. You're very very welcome! I post a lot of Heifetz clips because he is my favorite violinist and I think everybody serious about music needs to be exposed to it. Although I don't love everything he did and wouldn't exactly call him a God, I still feel that he is one of the most incredible musicians that has ever lived to play on any instrument. I will post some more just for you leviolonist!

  • I've posted about Heifetz before, but besides his remarkable technique, it is his absolutely unique sound and nose for interpretation that is unique. I've listened to hundreds of good fiddlers, but none have what he had. Hassid was very interesting, but of course life stopped that career. Perhaps Oistrakh can command my attention in some pieces...but it is that SOUND of Heifetz.

  • the violin just makes the melody sound so much better, but as a purist i still prefer the piano solo version

  • @leviolonist When I listen to Heifetz I feel as if there is Light in his playing. It is all so natural and when the music carries enharmonic tones they feel as natural as what one finds in nature. I don't think I am well educated enough to understand the music but I am human enough to feel the light and the power of it.

  • GRANDE HEIFETZ

  • What an incredible musical and moving performance!

  • Thank you for this video, I didn't expect to find much on Heifetz but here it is for the You Tube population to enjoy..
