As for lip syncing, there were not the only ones to do it. The fact is a lot of sound equipment back then just wasn't up to the task, so a lot of acts would pre-record the number, and then lip sync during the taping. However, to me it's still them and not just them syncing over the studio recording. You can hear the difference btwn this and the Andy Williams clip and hear Dennis' contribution, so to me it's just as good as a "live" performance.
OMG I don't think i've ever seen this clip of the song. It's SO nice to see all five of them standing there together (usually Dennis had to stay behind the drums when they performed this song live). Literally music doesn't get any better than this!! Best Band Ever. Thanks sooooo much for sharing!!!!!
I've seen these guys perform this song "live" on a few TV spots, and brilliantly as well, so I don't know why there were occasions when they would lip-sync this. I believe this performance WAS lip-synched because Brian does the solo on the last "for their..." into the closing tag. Unless he's doing his famous Paul Winchell impersonation, you can clearly see he is not singing that part (1:24). Nonetheless, just being able to sing these parts with their unique blend is amazing... and beautiful.
Unquestionably lip-synched. Brian is far from microphone. You can't get the rich vocal blend heard here with some physically so far, and all at different distances, from the microphone. I have doubt about the Andy Williams show performance being live.
Yeah, pretty sure this was lip-synched. They often pre-recorded material for shows like this several days before they filmed. I believe some of the songs they did on the Andy Williams show later in '65 were done the same way, including "Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring".
looks like a lip-sync though...Brian's mouth doesn't move when he says "For their". I still can't tell if they were actually singing on the Andy Williams version. This begs the question: Since Dennis didn't usually sing in their regular 4-part set-up (yes, I know he sang in many many non-4-part cuts), what part do you think Dennis was lip-syncing. I vote for Al's tenor part.
Brian loved the Four Freshman and that is obvious here. Simply heaven for the ears....

Never saw this video before. I thought the Andy Williams clip was the only one. MAJOR UPLOAD. Kudos.

@juslookin3 If you listen to the concert recording from London you will hear how brilliantly they could sing this live. :-)
