Unfortunately, your Trini friends and family are not the authority when it comes to deciding whether or not a nation is part of region. Like it or not, Guyana is part of the "Mainland Caribbean." But it is not considered part of the modern west indies, and most of my Trini friends and family have told me that Guyanese aren't Caribbean but love the culture so we as a culture include them. I'm just being honest...

@coocoohead1122 Yes, it is not part of the Caribbean islands, but it was part of the British West Indies, and as such, is considered part of the modern West Indies. It is also a founding member of the international Caribbean union CARICOM. I'm Trini and even I know this LOL.
