  • What a way to end their career. Bravo! The ironic thing is this is probably the only skater

    (s) in history to both lose the Worlds after winning an Olympic gold (84) and win the Worlds after losing the Olympic gold (88).

  • Brilliant. Yes, most of their technical difficulty was in the 1st 1/2 of the programme but the power and drive in this routine were outstanding. Final Countdown is a fabulous piece of music and they really deserved this win. Great way to finish their amateur careers. They don't have performances like this anymore with the silly new marking system. Bring back the old 6.0 !

  • @russianskatingfan I couldn't agree more.G&G were overrated in my book& while I like Lloyd&Isabelle, they skated SO SLOW,it almost seemed like a 7:00 minute LP.It's a shame M&D didn't place higher@1990 Worlds.' G&G had the'88 Olympic title propping them up.Brassuer& Eisler had the home ice advantage.Had great lifts but they were so slow in their stroking-esp.their back stroking.G&G-my OMG! horror show @ 90's.Selezneva&Makarov;screwed royally as M&D were.Bronze medal!...pfttt!

  • @libralady1010 I would have had Miskutienok & Dmitriev 1st at the 1990 Worlds, Selezneva & Makarov 2nd (or maybe even 1st), Gordeeva & Grinkov 3rd (4th in the long program), Brasseur & Eisler 4th (3rd in the long program but losing bronze due to short program placings). The judging was awful. The old Selezneva & Makarov and newcoming Miskutienok & Dmitriev were pushed aside to prop up the faltering legends and the hometown kids.

  • @alishavalath

  • What is interesting, is that, with very few tweaks, this program would win in this season!

  • @libralady1010 I agree, Worlds 90 was a joke. M&D should have won Gold, The Canadians 2nd and Selezneva/Makarov 3rd even though I did not like their routine much and the music was awful.

  • Moskvina really struggled with the "branding" of this couple after G&G began to dominate...and I am glad this style, though not my personal favorite for them, worked! One of the best moments in the history of fig skating, in my opinion.
