This is the 1/48 scale model from Tamiya of the Royal Navy Sea Harrier. This was a good build and there were 3 options with the decals. This was the first kit I have had a chance to paint with my new airbrush so this was a practice kit.
Happy retirement for all the old Harriers.

  • Great model. I bought this kit today and also have purchased the Eduard photo etch set for the cockpit and some exterior detailing. It will be my first 'modern' aircraft so I'm a little nervous!! How'd you find it went together?

  • @dondeyout1 not any problems that I can remember it was a nice kit and good decals

  • Question: to anyone i may add, what are those clips called?? And where can i get them?? Im talking about the ones to hold them together while the glue is drying. Thanks and great build!!

  • @coladito1 the clips I got at harbor tools and freight I think they are 4 for a dollar not expensive at all.

  • great video but what happened to the audio?

  • @svinehunden thanks I am having problems with youtube with my audio, I have tried to audio swap also and it is still not updating.

  • I guess if you can't own a real Harrier, this will help get you past that heartbreak. Thanks, I wished I had these skills when I was building models.

  • @coladito1

    :)

I'm halfway through construction of my 4th plane, an f-16c..

It'll look nice next to my F-111, F-15e Strike Eagle, and F/A-18f Super Hornet.

In boxes, still to build, are an F14a 'Bombcat', an AV-8B Harrier II Plus, and, for a touch of nostalgia, an F4U-4B Corsair.. :)

  • @Wolfy877 thank you very much for the tip, funny thing is that I use those two exact things for my builds!, :).

  • @coladito1

also, you can use regular wooden clothes pegs.. a pack of 50 at the discount shop costs about 2 bucks..

I find them less brutal on 1/48 scale planes.. ;)

having said that, using the "Tamiya 'Extra Thin' Cement" (product code: 87038*300) usually negates the requirement to clamp anything, as it sets in about 10 seconds.. :)

nice job on the build btw

  • nice disclaimer TM.

  • Gay

  • Jeez....I made one of these about 35 years ago.

Amazing that they still make 'em.

  • harrier MRK 1 i think ? flew during the falklands

  • malvinas son argentinas

  • pre falklands the shar was extra dark sea grey on top with white undersides , they were painted all over extra dark sea grey on the journey out to the falklands

the tamiya kit although still good is starting to get dated by todays standards but it still gives a reasonable model available at extra low price on ebay
