TEDxEuston - Paula Akugizibwe - Between the lines

Paula Akugizibwe, a writer and activist, was born in Nigeria to parents of Rwandan and Ugandan origin and grew up largely in Southern Africa. She considers herself a happy pan-African nomad. For the past few years, she has been based in Cape Town where she coordinated a regional advocacy project aimed at improving access to and quality of HIV/ TB services in Southern Africa. Prior to this, Paula worked in several roles relating to health and human rights in Rwanda, Burundi and Botswana. She has also served on technical advisory groups for the Southern African Development Community and the World Health Organization. Paula has a Bachelor of Pharmacy and is currently completing her Master in Public Health (Epidemiology) at the University of Cape Town. In her spare time, she writes political poetry and non-fiction.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
