WHAT KIND OF FLU IS IT AND HOW IS IT SPREADING?
The virus is an influenza A virus, carrying the designation H1N1 and is spreading from person to person. It contains DNA from avian, swine and human viruses, including elements from European and Asian swine viruses, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, or CDC.

Virus samples have been sent to laboratories in Canada for testing, they said.
The government also decided to close all schools in Mexico City and the center of the country to avoid spreading of the virus. The World Health Organization, which has identified swine influenza as a potential source of a human flu pandemic, has also activated its global epidemic operations center.

CDC says too late to contain U.S. flu outbreak

WASHINGTON, April 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday it was too late to contain the swine flu outbreak in the United States.
CDC acting director Dr. Richard Besser told reporters in a telephone briefing it was likely too late to try to contain the outbreak, by vaccinating, treating or isolating people.

Of the 14 Mexican samples tested by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, seven were identical to the swine flu virus found in Texas and Southern California, Besser said at a news conference.

Dozens of people have died and hundreds of others have been infected in a viral outbreak in Mexico suspected to have been caused by a strain of swine flu.

The World Health Organization thinks the virus may be behind 60 deaths in Mexico since mid-March.

Mexican authorities have closed schools in affected areas and a vaccination campaign is being launched.

Seven non-fatal cases of a new form of swine flu have also been confirmed in the southern United States.

A WHO spokesman said 12 out of 18 samples taken from the Mexican victims showed they died from a virus with the same genetic structure as the one found in the US.

The WHO would convene an emergency meeting in the "very near future" to determine whether the event constituted a "public health event of international concern", Gregory Hartl told Reuters news agency.

The White House said it was following the US outbreak - in California and Texas - closely.

'Mutated from pigs'

WHO spokeswoman Fadela Chaib said "unusual end-of-season influenza activity" was noticed in Mexico starting from the end of March.

Fifty-seven people had died in Mexico City from flu-like symptoms, she said, and another three in San Luis Potosi in central Mexico. There are around 800 suspected cases, she said.

Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova said the virus had "mutated from pigs and then at some point was transmitted to humans".

The strain of flu had been confirmed in at least 16 deaths, with 44 others being tested, the government said.

It urged people to take preventative measures such as not shaking hands or sharing crockery.

All schools and universities in the capital and in nearby Mexico State have been closed, the BBC's Stephen Gibbs reports from Mexico City.

'No contact'

In the US, experts say the seven people who fell ill across two states were suffering from a new form of swine flu that combined pig, bird and human viruses.

The CDC said none of the seven victims had been in contact with pigs, which is how people usually catch swine flu.

CDC spokeswoman Anne Schuchat said that officials did not yet know how widely the virus had spread.

But she pointed out that all seven victims had recovered. "So far this is not looking like very very severe influenza," she said.

While the world has been worried over the past few years about the impact of a pandemic originating from avian flu, the WHO say that swine flu has been implicated in the emergence of two of the last century's influenza pandemics, reports BBC science reporter Matt McGrath.

Pigs can serve as a mixing vessel for both human and avian viruses that could combine to create a more virulent strain, our reporter adds.

  • Sounds bad..i wonder if it will get to phase 6..at the moment the mainstream media is giving us the impression that the flu is going down but at the same time they're are talking about an imminent global pandemic..

The WHO..Union of The Snake..or a rock band from the 70s..ha

  • I think it is a 'definite'. The World 'Health'Organisation have been hinting at it for a few days now.

If you read the prep documents, the progression from one phase to the next requires actions which should take a couple of months, but it has gone from 3 to 4 to 5 in a matter of days.

Given the ridiculously small number of fatalities, I think that when it is imposed most people will be able to understand why, and it won't be because of risk of dying from Fear Flu.

    Eat fruit-Avoid doctors :)

  • Femr thanks for the clarification..for a moment there i thought it looked like a NWO deal..keep us posted..

  • Just stating how the name is formed.

I think we should all be more concerned about the response plans of our respective nations to "Phase 6" than the 'threat' of A9H1N1 itself at this time.

The WHO 'Global Pandemic Response Plan' guidelines make for very disturbing reading, with great emphasis upon the immediate nullification of individual human rights, for the US, a total nullification of the Constitution, etc...

"Swine Flu" is not a serious threat, however...

  • A9 H1N1..911?

  • Influenza Type A, 2009, H1N1.

  • The truth is that thousands of people allready die from Flu worldwide.

Only several 100 people died from this Flu. This Flu had not been active for over 60 years.

You need a host to keep this alive, and for one to infect another for 60 years.

So this means that this flu had to be active in over 9,000 people over the past 60 years.

There have been no reported cases in the last 60 years. Who released this bac into population?? Come on 911 was staged by US government. See Loose Change & PBS.

  • "the mexican flu"thats so unfair, at the beginning it was the swine influenza or hog flu and after people was panicking about eating pork, the government was saying that eating it was OK ...so breathing it wasn't? it changed to human influenza...and according to Google the origin of this new strain is unknown and also it says "Swine influenza is common in pigs in the Midwestern United States " so who to blame? some countries are acting really stupid against mexican people.

  • my mom got the swine flu. it was horrible she said. she thought she was going to die. but she survived it. and right after the swine flu, you get baroncides. it makes you cough. and after a while your lungs start to hurt and you die. and my mom survived that too.

  • Vit D3/VIt C, wild oregano oil, whole foods, rest and water...natural immunity.

  • Get the word out my friend.......Tell the world

  • I am more worried about the plague then the swine flu - google Malcolm Casadaban. You can be dead in hours.

Wtf is a professor of molecular genetics doing with a strain of bacteria so deadly that it has killed millions in its history. Don't tell me it wasn't a live bacteria because it was what killed him. You mess with the bull you get the horns. There was no reason to play with this bacteria because there are antibiotics to treat the rare cases that pop up in the world nowadays.

  • excellent work!

  • lol!

  • You must be suffering from "Fear Flu" instead :o)

  • i love the way they project lies through 'truth' its fascinating.. fuck the jab and fuck the bbc

  • BAXTER has a plant 50 miles from ground zero of H1N1 in Mexico? They patented the vaccine in 2007?

    google it.
