  • you can charge mocrowave caps up to 8kv! its tested by Steve

  • Yeah I've seen someone charge them to 9kV, they should be able to handle it about 90 seconds. this would increase the cascade output significantly. however, I would like to play with it a little longer so im not overvolting it that much:)

  • The Canon IXY 410f (Japanese model #), known as the Elph 300 in the U.S.A. has a really neat feature where it can record 120 frames/sec. slow motion video at 640x480 or 240 fps @ 240x480 (in addition to nice HD video.) These little cameras are pretty cheap and might be nice to capture some slow motion video of things like this.

  • You EASILY could've increased the voltage output by 5-10 times if you spent $60 and bought a cheap 6 kV Oil Burner Ignition Transformer. (OBIT).

I have a small 6kv one powering my 10 stage multiplier. The final voltage is 169kV.

    (Voltage in) x 2 x (number of stages) x 1.414 = Voltage out

  • PLASMAAAAA!

You guys should get a high-speed camera.

  • it is simple ,, my cheap cascade is best i think yours system is worse ,, look at this video

  • Nice!

and I thought 2 caps in AC mode made enough noise!

try putting organic material across the gap, like a daffodil or something with high water content :D

  • so what is the point of charging them like this

  • Have you tried using the capacitor bank to crush a can?
