Vampire Dreams: Episode 22

My pace slowed as HE walked through the schools entrance. With his perfect pace, smooth stride, and completely gorgeous complexion to add more of an awe. I stood there, in the center of the hallway, simply gaping at him as he passed students lurking near the front doors. Then, just as he was passing The Gang, Demi stepped out of their circle and right into Nicks path. Right before they were about to crash, he swerved around, bracing her with his own arms. She came to a complete hault and looked up at him slightly bewildered. He gave her an aologetic smile, then let go of her arms and carried on down the hallway. I wanted to look away and focus my attention on Nick, who was coming my way, but I couldn't help but be curious at Demi's response to what had just happened. It was nothing, really. Just the casual bump into a random stranger on your way to class. But something told me this was different. The look on Demi's face, right at the moment when Nick's hands came into contact with her skin, was frightening. The expression went momentarily blank and then was overwhelmed with awe, confusion, realization and fear. The fear was the easiest to read. I'd seen it so often that I recognized it well. The blank expression wasn't new either. I'd seen it once before. About year ago, my friends and I were out in Orlando when we came across a palm-reading shop. It looked like something we could poke fun at, so we went inside to find the craziest, spookiest voodoo lady I've ever seen. And when she touched my hand, that was the expression that came up. The blank look...of nothingness...but of seeing something in a far away world...like Demi's expression. And they both ended with the eyes...which were overcome in fear. I snapped out of my daze at the same moment Demi snapped out of hers and refocused her attention to her friends, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. I blinked a few times, trying to clear the image of her fear-stricken face from my memory. I shook my head and turned around still slightly confused, when I noticed the majority of the students had left the hallway and were headed towards their classes. Well, except for Nick who was standing in a rather odd protective position just a few feet away from me, and another boy who was casually walking down the hall towards us. As the boy got closer, I was able to see his face clearly. He had wavy, brown hair, thick eyebrows, and his eyes were...a light, creamy hazel. Like Nick's... When he approached us, he shifted towards my direction and focused his eyes on me. "Nice to see you again," he said with a slight smirk etched out on his pale face. I looked over at Nick who was farther away from me than before, but still in a ready stance. Then I looked back over at the boy confused. "Umm, sorry but, I don't think we've met before," I told him. I recognized his face and his dangerous smile, but I couldn't put my finger on who he was. He chuckled softly and looked over at Nick. "This is unlike you, Nick...tampering..." The boy tapped his head with his pointer finger. Nick scowled at the boy and said, "Don't do this," through clenched teeth. I furrowed my eyebrows together confused.
