Episode 11:
Poor Jonathon Crompton. In 2008, sports radio
hosts turned the guy's last name into a synonym
for bad quarterback play. I wanted to do an episode
with him but didn't feel it was fair to pile on the
guy while he was down. It's ok to pile onto Kiffin
because he makes 2 mil a year and is an adult.
Well, scratch that last one.
After Crompton's 2 solid games against
Georgia and Alabama, I felt I could do a show to
put a better spin on the poor guy's troubles. I kept
up the Pat Summitt theme (for all I know, Crompton
got his own act together), and like the bit about
Kiffin, Southern Cal and the parallel universe.
I must say, that like all Vol fans, I'm pleased that
Crompton ended out his time at Tennessee with
some good games and has something positive to
leave on. I have a lot of respect for his hard work
and dedication. I also have a lot of respect for the
way Kiffin backed him and stayed with him through
some rough patches. Maybe there's more to this
Kiffin guy than we think...
