Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the Mormons) continue to donate money against gay marriage in California at a breakneck pace. Mormons, whose members only make up about twelve percent of California's population, have donated an estimated 75% of the $25 million raised to pass Proposition 8, said Fred Karger, campaign manager for Californians Against Hate. Proposition 8 is the ballot initiative that would forbid gay marriage in California.

It appears that at least 75% of the $25 million raised by Yes-on-8 is from members of the Mormon Church, wrote Karger in an email.

Moreover, the LDS faith has Thirteen Articles of Faith, written by Joseph Smith in his Wentworth Letter. #12 requires Mormons to obey, honor, and sustain the Law of the Land of whatever nation they live in.

By supporting DOMAs that are written to abolish not only same-sex marriage but also "plural" marriage, the LDS are putting themselves in a bind should God ever decide to re-institute "plural" marriage. They couldn't obey it without violating the Twelfth Article of Faith!

The really ironic thing is that Proposition 8 and other DOMAs in other States and the proposed one at the federal level are all aimed JUST AS MUCH *AGAINST* the Mormons as they are against the GLBTs!

Those all define "marriage" as between •A• mAn and •A• womAn! While the mainstream LDS faith hasn't practiced polygyny in over a century, it IS still in the Doctrine & Covenants, and alluded to in the Book of Mormon, that God can command or revoke it at ANY TIME as He sees fit.

No. Wrong. That's giving the right-wingers what they want. They want marriage to be accepted as a Christian thing, and it isn't. Marriage has existed in all societies, regardless of religion, since long before recorded history. It does not belong to Christianity nor Judaism nor any other religion.

Don't confuse a WEDDING (ceremony) with MARRIAGE (long-term life-sharing partnership).

They WANT to be persecuted! Jesus said to REJOICE when persecuted! They see persecution as VALIDATION of their faith, as FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY!

They NEED it SO much that they'll MAKE IT UP if they have to ("Oh, NOES! That store clerk just wished me `HAPPY HOLILDAYS!' PERSECUTION!!")

Either you're confusing Mormonism with Scientology (though I doubt that they would consider Xenu a god), or you're not examining mainstream Abrahamic religion (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) closely.

The God that the LDS worship is an "alien" only in the same sense that the God of the Bible is.

"Extraterrestrial" means "from outside Earth." Do you believe that God comes FROM Earth? No?
