HOME ALONE House For Sale

The house used in HOME ALONE is up for sale. The stately looking red-brick home is located at 671 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, IL — a rather upper class neighborhood 20-miles north of Chicago. The average house in the area goes for almost $780,000. Most of the home's interiors were recreated on a sound stage for the actual movie shoot. However some scenes were filmed inside it. The home's REAL owners, John and Cynthia Abendshien lived in the house during the 6-months the crew was there. Their daughter reportedly even became friends with Macaulay Culkin. She has since moved out and the couple is looking to downsize. The 4,250-square foot home sits on about a half acre lot. It has 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, gourmet kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, a sunroom and detached garage. The Abendshiens bought the house back in 1988 and paid $875,000 for it. They said obviously this isn't the best time to sell a high-end luxury home, but hopefully its notoriety will help bring in some offers. The asking price is $2.4-million. Only pre-qualified buyers can see the home. There are no open houses planned.
