This video is in response to a Good Morning America story about a principal who encouraged parents to ban their children from using social media. You can see the original story at http://t.co/Be2Al7g . Note: I realize there is a typo in the video, but don't want to remove it because it is now linked to in several spaces. I will share a new link to the edited video in the near future.

  • @billgx, thank you for your insights. You make a strong point when you say blocking social media sites is ignoring the issue. You are right. Educators and parents can't take the easy way out and turn there heads. Students exist in these worlds and we should ensure they are not only safe there, but also are empowered to know how to use such environments in a way that contributes to a digital footprint that represents what they want the world to see in them.

  • @snookilife13 just wow gurlie just wowwwwwww

  • Guys don't be mean that's my principal

  • that principal is a retard. Maybe we should put him on parental controls!

  • This "principal" obviously does not know what he is doing and its sad because he is my own principal and he just likes being in power and making his own choices rather than listening to his mommy's commands.

  • This is my principal... I know the kid who started all this :P

  • This man needs a serious lesson...

  • YT rarely lends itself to intelligent discourse. However, it's fair to note that the hostess of this channel considers my world view as being one of "doom and gloom" but yet paints the history of traditional values and mores the USA with the same brush. It's seems that skeptical or condemnatory views can only be applied to history, not the future. The future represents an unknown, so naturally, I am not willing to embrace the unknown unconditionally.

  • At my age, a patriarchal mindset informs my approach to teaching, so yes, I can reasonably judge what is best for kids. I have the years and experience to exercise the proper judgment as a parent, as well. Social media are appropriate for students over a certain age, an age where they can meet behavioral expectations. However, that doesn't mean that their schools are obligated to provide access

  • I really appreciate your civil discourse, even though we disagree on many things. This is much better than the typical discussions here.
