I got a septoplasty (correction for deviated septum) and a turbinate reduction on my left nostril and I feel some improvement, I notice that most times my speech does sound clearer, but not the way I thought it would be. I still feel like at times my nose is the way it was before I got the surgery done, but then again I'm only 8 days post-op...so I would like some feedback as to if it will improve or not? Feedback, comments, questions, anything is weclome

  • how long was your recovery

  • had this done yesterday in the uk,no splints but i was most nervous about being put to sleep ! when they inject you your head goes really spinny and light and then your out ! when i woke about a hour and a half later i was spitting blood and had my nose tape changed around 4 times , it doesnt really hurt actually im glad i had it done, had night mares about this all week building up to the operation ! i stayed overnight in hospital cos i was bleeding so much.

  • I had it done today. My nose has not stopped bleeding and my throat hurts. I don't notice a difference, but I had the surgery done hours ago.

  • I had septoplasty 10 days ago. There were no splints involved in my surgery, I was in and out in about 6 hours. My right nostril which was closed to almost a slit up near the top is open now and I am breathing normal. Most of the healing is done already, no more blood or grossness coming out when I rinse or blow at this stage. There is also a big improvement in the symmetrical look of my nose which used to appear slightly bent or narrowed on one side. It appears fuller and straighter now.

  • GIVE US AN UPDATE DAMMIT!

My doctor told me it takes at least two weeks to notice dramatic results.

I have read some really scarey shit about turbinate reduction though. It can cause "empty nose syndrome' which causes serious problems in life. I had that too today and now I'm worried.

  • can you give us an update? i've suffered from chronic inflammation that completely blocks any air from passing through my nose. no doctor has ever even mentioned turbinates, but learned about them myself by doing some research. i'm nearly positive inflamed turbinates is my problem. when i work out, my nose clears up which i believe is due to the thinning of the blood and thus reduction of inflammation. i've dealt with this all my life...would love to know if this procedure improved your situatio

  • how do u feel now ? do u know waht ENS is?

  • I'm getting this tomorrow, thanks for the advice, calms my nerves a bit
