A showcase for the BWSN (Biomedical Wireless Sensor Network) Project was held at Rikshospitalet University Hospital on February 8th 2008. The Showcase included live video transmission of beating heart cardiac surgery performed at an OR at the Interventional Centre( http://www.ivs.no )to an auditorium. The wireless platform with real-time sensor data based on an IEEE 802.15.4 compliant platform was shown simultaneously. Sensors used were invasive arterial blood pressure, ECG, epicardial accellerometer and a digital intrapleural drainage system.

  • Yes,the experiment was based on a porcine animal model with formal approval from the National Veterinary Research Authorities.
