"BROKEN AFFINITY." A short film on interracial dating. A LIVE FEARLESLEY PRODUCTION.

I made this for my media class my senior year of high school. Because the school I went to was so diverse, sometimes the narrow-mindedness of older generations got in the way of interracial dating.

Perhaps there will be a sequel with a happy ending to this in the future... :)

I know the quality is poor and blurry, but that's just from the compression.

Starring KRISTYN RUSSO, BRIAN ANYANWU, and DIEGO HERNANDEZ

Special thanks to CFC- YOUTH HOUSTON CHPT1 for participating in the party scene!

Written and Directed by Lesley- Anne Lastimoso

  • I'm a little bit confused by the parents... was she half Indian and half East Asian? I mean, I know India is South Asia but her parents could be considered two races to begin with... and yeah, that other guy was Mexican lol... or at least Sicilian. So many races I kinda got lost.

  • haha actually both the parents are full filipino... Justin, the guy who plays the dad is just REALLLY dark. lol

oh, and so is the guy who plays the new boyfriend. [=

  • Wow, great video, i actually went through this same situation with my current girlfriend.. The only difference is, we're still together even though her mom disapproves and constantly tries to hook her hope with non-blacks... Its just too bad her mother cant see past my skin color, i tried to win her approval but i just gave up, my girl and i are still together i just hope it dose'nt ruin the relationship with her family.. :-/

  • good luck to you! i love seeing interracial relationships persevere! :) my mom did the same thing to me... just keep loving her and she'll just brush other guys off ;) some people can just be so narrowminded.

  • *Sorry meant to say, I think you've failed*

  • WOW. i'm surprised you thought the guy was white! haha actually he was hispanic, but that's irrelevant. gsvkck, what i was trying to prove was that the youth were colorblind. color was of no factor to their relationship, however the girls' parents interfered, and even when a new guy was introduced by her parents, she still wanted to be with her original boyfriend.

  • that was a sad sight to happen..i guess the girl really didn't like him much because sometimes they will go against the parents to keep another person they care for.

  • Some movies do not explain and ask you to develop your own opinion.

To me, it was obvious. Her parents hooked up her with someone they preferred.

If your morals force you to believe her parents were right...that is your opinion. If your morals force you to believe that her parents were wrong or that her dating the "preferred guy" was wrong that is your opinion.

  • @cunningprose Wow. I couldn't agree more. There will always be people who agree and disagree with interracial relationships.

  • happens way to much but its true

  • cute video. i dont think it matters what the parents of the child represent. for all it matters the parents could be black and asian and the child is white. what matters is what your message was, and it's a good one. cheers!

  • Powerfull!!

  • glad for ya my mom's girl is still truing to figure out how to cook me and she is Asian im black and Asian and they still trying to kill me power to u

  • thats messed up , im mexican my girl is asian filipino and im glad her parents accepted me with open arms and trust me even more than her lol shes kinda crazy but it doesnt matter the race as long as there is love between each other

  • Thats fucked up. but thats the society we live in today. A lot of asians forget who put the japanese in the internment camps and took away all their rights. Also they forget who made the chinese men come over and work on and build the railroads for little to nothing, And the men didnt have contact with their families back home. Who did this? Not black people.

P.S. I'm not saying all white people are bad, I'm saying just know the history.

  • I don't know about this girl's family but most Asians have greater repect for parental authority than other Americans. That is probably why she did not rebel against her parents wishes.

  • This was great, good acting
