Seemed to make it better, it seemed to make everything in my life better. I was finally able to sit up without the violent trembles coming back. He just sat there looking at me.
“I’m so sorry for what they said to you, I know it isn’t true. It just made me upset they always want to find a way to hurt you and I just couldn’t take it anymore. I hope you don’t find me crazy..”
“No, I don’t, you tried to stand up for me, there’s nothing crazy about that.” I touched his shoulder and my hand slid down to his chest, time or any of our surroundings didn’t seem to matter anymore. None of it did. Having Kiyo in my life mattered, he lifted up my chin, and even though behind those glasses, I could tell he was looking at me. And only me. He inched closer to me and stopped about halfway.
“You know, we should really stop kissing in hallways..” I looked back down. “We should go somewhere else.” My eyes caught hold of him and I smiled as I stood up.
“We have class to get to.”
He stood up ,closing in on me. “Okay, suit yourself,” He kissed my cheek and began to walk down the now destitute hallways. “See ya at lunch.” He yelled back over his shoulder. I smiled and walked towards my classroom doorway, it would be completely awkward in the cafeteria. But, I knew I would have to go to show that I wasn’t afraid yet, I was mortally terrified.

As I made my way into the lunchroom, everyone stopped to look at me. For some strange reason I knew this was going to happen, there wouldn’t be an end to this and I knew I had to make everything right. When I sat down next to Kiyo, I glanced over to Natalie and Robert. They were talking to everyone and Natalie looked at me and laughed. She must’ve said something about me because then everyone at that table looked at me. So this is how they want to treat me? Fine. My fingers were digging into the table, I turned to Kiyo to see if he was watching me, then I step onto the table.
“Hey, everyone! Can I get your attention please!?”
I could feel Kiyo tugging at my dress. “Alex, what are you doing?”
Ignored him as I waited to get everyone’s eyes on me. “Okay, so everyone saw the fight in the hallway this morning, right?”
“Yeah…” They all murmured, while looking at me strangely.
“Well, I know it may have seemed like I was a crazy bitch, but I’m not. You see my friends...or my ex-friends…thought that my boyfriend Kiyo was a psycho. Who they thought he had something to do with Tracey Briggs’s death but I assure you that that is not the case. You see Tracey hurt Kiyo, in a mentally, emotionally, and physical way and..” I looked down at him. “He doesn’t deserve being treated like some person just in the school, like he just roams the halls, he’s a person. A normal human being with feelings and let me tell you, his life wasn’t easy. His brother died from a brain tumor and his father didn’t like him so much he always wished that Kiyo could be like his brother but when his brother died. His dad committed suicide. And his mom, having to lose a husband and son that must’ve been very hard for her. And for Kiyo to lose his brother and his father…it’s sad. I’ve never lost a family member that close to me within the same year. I wanted to get to understand him.”
“And he’s a great guy, I love him, so think what you have to think, say what you have to say, but please take a minute and realize what he’s been through. As for my ex-friends Natalie and Robert… I hope you’re disgusted with yourselves because you’re sickening to me. So if you think I’m crazy? I’ll show you crazy. You think I’m weird? I’ll you weird. But I will never forgive you.” I stormed across the room and open the doors open with such force, I though that they would fall off their hinges. Having done that made me so much better, everything was off my chest. I was sitting on the steps of the school, once I heard the door creek I knew who it was.
“Kiyo.” He sat closely next to me, making me warm.
“Hey, how you feeling?”
“Better actually. I’m sorry I told everyone about your life story it’s just…they needed to know. They should never hurt you.”
“All that doesn’t matter, they can hurt me all they want, but the thing that would literally tear my heart apart, is you hurting me.”
I looked at him. “Kiyo, I would never hurt you. You know that.”
“Yeah, I do, but thanks.” The sudden rush of air rushing through the doors surprised me.
“Alex, I need to talk to you.” Natalie voice sounded so weak now. I tugged on Kiyo so we could leave. “Alex, wait! Alex Please!-”
“What!” I turned towards hurt. “What could you possibly say to me right now? I already made my decision. You mean nothing to me.” I turned back around and began walking again.
“It’s all his fault!” My feet planted to the ground. “If it wasn’t for him, you would still my friend. He stole you away from us, like his own project he likes to work on. It’s like he’s brainwashing you.”
