In a HISTORICAL basketball perspective, Germany has a BETTER record than Turkey. Germany made the Olympics FIVE TIMES in all (1936, 1972, 1984, 1992, and 2008). Turkey made the Olympics just TWICE (1936 and 1952).

Germany has WON a basketball GOLD (1993 Eurobasket), while Turkey has NEVER won any basketball gold of any sort... yet.

Illyasova... he'll be lucky to make as many as 4 NBA All-Stars & All-NBA's alike, he'll be lucky score over 10,000 NBA points. He's good, but NOT great. He's NOT Hall of Fame material.

@EASTANBULxxxTURKISH Well, for all that's it's worth, it be nice to see Turkey in 2012 London Olympics, but DON'T compare Ilyasova to Nowitzki, it's NOT even close. Germany would've never made it to 2008 Beijing Olympics if not for Nowitzki (maybe Kaman too). Dirk is already a LEGEND, Ersan has a LONG, LONG way to go. I hope Ilyasova proves me wrong one day, but one thing's for sure, he'll NEVER score 20,000 NBA points... ONLY Nowitzki can.

In NBA play 5 turks. there are 2 german in nba dirk nowitzki and cris chaman. if there is not dirk nowitzki on earth germany a loser. u look germany played without dirk nowitzki and they lost against ANGOLA (LOL). germany has lucky that there is nowitzki.nowitzki get MPV at 27 years old or so ILSYAOVA get MPV FIBA eurooleague at 20 years old !!!

Let me rephrase my last statement... German Basketball has been to the Olympics FOUR TIMES in the last 38 years (1972, 1984, 1992, and 2008). They even won the 1993 Eurobasket GOLD.

Turkey, NO Olympic appearance since 1952, NO Basketball Gold of any sort.
