Potassium permanganate is insoluble in benzene. However, upon addition of crown ether soluble colored complex is formed.

  • Benzene isn't that toxic.. The junk (poly aromatics, formaldehyde, and so on) that is inhalatet when you smoke a sigaret is even more toxic or carcinogen, and the exposure is much bigger.
