This is animation footage I generated in order to snip short clips for making a creature evolution video for my presentation at the TAM6 conference in June 2008 in Las Vegas.

The processing time to evolve this creature was kindly donated by Robin Wideen.

  • Awesome. Now make a giant one in real life and let it take over the world. Mwa ha ha ha ha. =D

  • Sure, why not! :D

  • Im sure if you evolved it more the extra appendages and mini cubes would eventually disappear =D

  • I agree that's probably very likely

  • This one kind baffled me when I first saw it, the"how can it stay balanced?" kind of thing.

  • It's a little perplexing, but I don't think it's cheating (misusing the physics engine). I think it just gives a quick and hard upward jerk to its front end when it touches the ground, and that's just enough to keep it from tipping all the way forward before the next kick. That back end is pretty big, so it can muster a lot of torque, and also provide a counterbalance.

  • I love how at 1:09 the fast one jumps past all the faliures like hes mocking them

  • 0:13 the thing is basically strafe-jumping as in Quake.

  • this thing is like the slow kid at your school who sits at the front of the bus and talks to the bus driver

  • Momentum. If it stops, it falls.

  • Why did you kill them at the end!

    They are cute!!

  • "upward jerk to its front end when it touches the ground"

    Yeah I see that. :D
