This video shows a first look at the body of the Zap Alias Prototype in Maumee, Ohio. It sounds like there is no drivetrain in there yet and that it will be added later in California. The engineer said the Alias will likely cost about $33,000, go up to 100 miles per charge, and have a top speed of 100mph. It could be on sale as early as next year, most likely classified as a motorcycle because of its three wheels.

Zap has a long history of making a lot of promises and CGI images of new models that they haven't delivered. At least this time they made a prototype body shell. Hopefully we'll see a fully running prototype soon, and an actual vehicle for sale soon after that (hopefully it's not like the obvio which made it to prototype stage but never went on sale).

  • Ask your boss at Zap to build it then.....and hurry, the world awaits.

  • True, it kind of looks like the Bat Car from the front.

  • but most people wont buy a car like that. they want something that compares to current models.

  • I WANT ONE OF THIS IN SAO PAULO - BRAZIL

    please?

  • I'd like to see it with open front wheels like a Prowler.

  • The inside! What does the inside look like?! I've been following the movements on this car & others alike & not one of the photos of ZAP Alias shows what the heck the interior looks like!

  • More competition for Aptera?

The sooner this type of vehicle comes to market the better.

Now if we can only get carbon fuel off the grid!

  • OK, sure. 88 mph was as fast as my VW went back in 1972.

  • but this car cost only 32.000 dollars?? its impossible surelly there is some defect in this car.

    go the ecology

  • 55?? ! What country do live in? 80mph is a must

  • Ditch the fancy wheels, too wide tires, and open wheel wells, smooth the front, cover the rear wheel, too, all for better aerodynamics, then give it a Nu Vinci transmission and reduce the motor voltage & battery requirements. It doesn't need to go 100 mph, 45-55 will do.
