Radha Romon Dutta, Sylhet Sunamgonj Region Folk, Bangladesh - 34

The November 13th was the 95th death anniversary of Radha Romon Dutta. Radha Romon was born in the village Keshobpur of Jogonnath Pur Upazilla, Sunamgonj District under Sylhet Division. He was born in 1833 (1241 Bengali Year). His father name: Radha Madhob Dutta; mother name: Suborna Devi. When he was 9 (nine) years old, at that time he lost his father. The Bengali year in 1275, he got married with Gunomoyee Devi, the daughter of NondoKumar Sen Odhikary from the village Adhpasha of Moulavibazar district. RadhaRomon left his family as a monk after the death of his wife and two sons at a time. Then he built a small hut in Nolua (Moulavibazar District) and he started worship by writing songs and composing. He used to make songs by his mouth without a pen and paper. His fellows used to write down those songs. RadhaRomon Dutta passed away in 1915 (The Bengali year 1322, 26 of Kartik) at the age of 82 years. His body was not burned according to Hindu religion, it was graved according to Boisnob ritualty. (source: Prothom Alo)
