Project 87 Honda 250X

I got this on Wednesday, December 10 for 500 bucks! I couldn't pass it up! It needs some work but it looks like it's in good mechanical shape and the chassis is pretty good, a little rusty but not bad for the year!

think i should buy an 87 250x for 600 bux

it has new chain and new sprokets and its stock

it just needs new front tires. let me know if you think its good for a first quad

@RickThePancho007 sorry i didn't reply sooner! yeah that's a good deal. Tires aren't cheap but they're not bad. these make great first quads: they're fast but not super fast, they're really fun, they're light, and they handle great! Also these are great quads to learn how to use a manual clutch; the clutch on them is very forgiving. On my Warrior and Raptor on the other hand, you gotta be really good at using a manual clutch.

yeah i bought it about 3 weeks ago now. when i went to the guys house it ran terrible so i got it for 400 and got it home and cleaned the carb and now it runs like a top.

someone called me with a 1987 trx250x it needs rear end bearings and front end bearings the left side cover was broken by the chain and it needs other work comes with extra parts and he wants 400 is that a good deal?

@EnjoySk8ter69 sorry i didn't reply until now. bearings are not hard to do but it's a time consuming job i don't enjoy having to do. It sounds like it was really abused if all the bearings are bad AND the chain snapped and broke some plastic. At the very least whoever owned it never did like any maintenance. It doesn't sound good to me

@mattschmit1 it's actually from a 250ex, which has a pipe that looks the same, but the header pipe connection is smaller.

What pipe is that? Looks like one from a 400ex.

i have a 87 honda 250x and the piston is completely ripped in half

@jordan98597 I sold it a long time ago. Otherwise I would've been interested. Course, I only bought this quad cause I found it dirt cheap and thought I could turn a profit (which I did, but I didn't do much work on it after finding out how expensive the fenders were).
