Update! Isabella, United Healthcare Insurance fight, and KKI

I wanted to update everyone on the situation with Isabella's fight against United Healthcare Insurance to get much needed treatment at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Several days ago, we received a phone call from a doctor at United Healthcare. We were told they were re-evaluating our appeal and trying to "make it fit" into our policy. They have decided that it would qualify under the Inpatient Rehabilitation coverage and they would pay for it! Thank you again so much for getting the word out there - we couldn't have done this without all of your help in spreading awareness.

Its a disgrace that anyone has to go through this. I would have sued immediately and asked for heavy punitive damages. Contact a local attorney just in case United gives you any more problems and be ready to sue for breach of contract, etc. etc.

Go, Isabella, go and God did the right thing when he placed her in your care. This is what parents do. I'm in awe of hat you've managed to achieve using the internet as a medium to get your story out and glad you recieved the recourse you sought.
Best wishes to all of you and well done! If you're ever in the Atlanta area, I'd love to take Miss Isabella out with my kids and grab an ice cream cone. Something tells me that would be a most awesome sight to behold!

I agree totally quixote0. As a former employee also I knew if they kept fighting, they would win. If you ride the Care Coordination department's back long enough, they'll eventually fold. Kudos to the Griggs!!

I don't really know the story behind Isabella's condition and struggles but she is in my thoughts & prayers. She is a precious little girl with such beautiful curly hair!
