President Obama and Mitt Romney are taking aim at gun rights this week in the aftermath of the Colorado movie-theater shooting.

Speaking at the Urban League Conference in New Orleans, the president said that he supports measures to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. Obama added that though he believes in the Second Amendment right to bear arms for hunting and shooting, a lot of gun owners would agree assault rifles like the AK-47 belong in the battlefield—not on city streets.

Mitt Romney flatly disagreed, telling the NBC Nightly News changing the hearts of Americans, not gun control, would lessen gun violence.

He also suggested it was illegal for Aurora shooting suspect James Holmes to have a stockpile of weapons. In fact, the arsenal was purchased legally.

So much for keeping the Aurora shooting out of politics—in some cases quite literally. A military grade AR-15 like the one Holmes used is being raffled off for just $25, in a fundraiser for Republican state legislator John McCaherty of Missouri.

A millitary grade ar-15 would be fully automatic, or have a 3-round burst option. There is a great difference between 100 and 800 rounds per minute. Get your facts straight, there is a difference between the guns you see in movies and in real life.

Some think only of having guns at any cost. Let your loved ones get gunned down by a creep who has no respect for the lives of others. This country is obsessed, the love of fire arms.

The founding fathers did not intend the right to bear arms for hunting. Do people forget that the constitution us supposed to protect us from opressive government. A am a proud owner of an AK 47 and I can assure you that if someone finds themselves at the other end of its barrel, my home will be safer because of it!
