My hope with video is to showcase the different tones in the Digital machine type and briefly contrast it with dBucket and dTape.

I start out on Bank 56 Patch B (settings: http://cl.ly/8NIx). This default patch is a lush digital delay. I experiment a lot with the controls, trying to demonstrate the wide palette of sounds achievable with this machine.

A lot of discussion has centered around the Lo-Fi, dTape, dBucket and Ice machines, but I think the Digital machine may be the one with the deepest array of solid delay tones. If you have a TimeLine, don't overlook it.

At 07:46 I switch to the dBucket machine.

At 09:10 I switch to the dTape machine.

(My camera stopped recording just after I switched to dTape, so the video Is not synced with the adjustments I'm making to the pedal. Sorry about that.)

  • How well does the timeline do a bright clean digital delay? I've heard tons of clips on YouTube of all the cool modulation and warm delays and such but none of just a straight up, clean, bright, digital delay. I like that sound for dotted eighths. What are your observations on that?

  • @hubar1565

You can definitely dial in a clean digital delay. You just need to turn the filter, grit and smear all the way down. Also, you can turn the high pass setting up a bit and it will roll off some of the bass frequencies.

Those settings will get you there.

  • Yr vids look amazing. What is the camera that you use?

  • @pixelatedmoose

    Thanks a lot. I use a Panasonic GF-2 with the 20mm lens.

  • Will the Strymon TimeLine work nicely with my old analog keyboards? I'm looking for a delay and this seems like the most flexible, easy to use and tonally pure thing out there right now.

  • @aikighost

I think it will work great with your analog keyboards.

    Most flexible: probably.

Easy to use: for a keyboard guy, yeah.

    Tonally pure: It's pretty clean.

Strymon posted a video of them running a Juno 6 through the TimeLine. Check it out.

  • what guitar are you using, and are you running it through an amp or your computer? this is a great demo the pedal sounds amazing

  • @hubar1565 Further to mutematt's reply, I use mine for clean delay as well, in fact the Time Line adds an amazing pristine clarity to your tone. I use mine with a number of amps but of late have been completely blown away by the Timeline/Boogie MkV pairing - either in front of the amp or through the effects loop.

  • Oh your videos are so evil. I am currently very convinced that life will not be fulfilled until I have this baby. :P

  • @mutematt Thanks a lot for the reply and the link to the video. Roll on pay day :)
