  • Still better than my crazy family. I'm the only one on the spectrum and I'm the most normal one. It's a shame to see people like this lovely fella who didn't ask to be on the spectrum and meanwhile people like my relatives CHOOSE to alter their brains with drugs and alcohol etc and ruin everybody's lives.

  • @TheNarcMan Good point...though some people abuse drugs and alcohol because they have a neurotransmitter problem and are self medicating with dangerous substances instead of holistic interventions or something to balance brain.

  • Thank you for all you do to bring awareness to this sad disorder. I have 4 yr old twin girls, one on the spectrum. I'm sending you happy vibrations your way and many blessings to your family and especially James! Big hug to you all.

  • @miamirox99 Thanks for the happy "vibrations" ...I try and tell Jamey (my autistic son) all the positive commments on you tube...and may you have a wonderful New Year...

  • My gf works in a respite home 4 children with sever autism - nonverbal, with severe SIB. They have 6 workers for 3 children 24 hours a day. It takes that many. They are so strong. Some days she comes home bruised and battered herself from getting in the way of SIB. You are an amazingly strong woman, so patient, and selfless to not give your son to voluntary respite. There should be medals for moms out there - and you would be in the first few to receive an award :) Love to you girl

  • Jamey has come a long way since this video. He is currently on a nicotine patch to elevate choline in his brain. It seems to be helping. He hasn't had any crazy uncontrollable self-injury since July, which is when I first advocated for doctors to prescribe this novel, emerging therapy for autism with intraccable self injurious behaviors. I will provide updates...sure hope this becomes a successful therapy...it just blew me away when I first saw research showing nicotine could help...it has!

  • Wow that looked so familiar my nephew is 13 and so strong now I'm dreading his getting bigger. There are extreme degrees in restraint and can be dangerous. But I'm like you I use gentle restraint to protect Alex from himself. I love your videos thanks.

  • Has he ever typed anything for you on the computer?

  • You have such a brave and strong family. I wish I could put into words how much I feel for your family. Thank yall so much for sharing.

  • I have a four year old son with moderate to severe autism and I just wanted to tell you what a wonderful mother I think you are. I appreciate your contribution to autism awareness and these videos help mothers like me feel less alone.

  • I'm really sad to see a man like that God protects and keeps the cure

  • @kgaccount I see, and I'm sorry for this stuff...my 27 years old sister has lou gehrig's disease,so i know how terrible is to see someone you love suffering..! take care! :)

  • @slsm1234 Yes, we have Posey mitts, which are the same protective mitts they use in hospitals to protect self injurious patients. Unfortunately, my son is so darn strong (most autistics are) that when he punches, they usually fly off, no matter hard you try and secure them. Plus, I don't like to deny him opportunity to suck his thumb, so it gets tricky when using gloves, if I keep them on, he gets madder cuz he can't suck his thumb, but when I remove, he may start hitting again..

  • @orangebubble86 Wow, those doctors must be really on the ball, because nicotine patch is a very novel, emerging treatment in the field of autism and self injurious behavior. I wish all doctors dealing with autistic patients would be so up on things...that could be of greater help in situations like chronic self abuse.
