GFD was dispatched to a reported house fire in the 2500 block of Maryland. On arrival Battalion 4 advised fire to the rear of a vacant 1.5 story frame dwelling. Crews made an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes. Nobody was hurt at the fire scene.

LMFAO, there is plenty for me to do here. I am still surrounded by other cities. Gary will never slow down, at least not in my lifetime. They had fires before I moved here and will well after I go.

I know it's what we're programmed to do, but sometimes you have to wonder- why do we even bother? The house is vacant, why risk lives for nothing???? "Risk nothing to save nothing"...

Agreed, but people do look at the Fire Department and the Firefighters as role models/heroes. If they sat back and let every vacant house go there would be an uprising by the residents for sure. (I think)
