Sarah Plum - Bach Chaconne

Bach wrote this as the final movement of his 2nd Partita for Solo violin in d minor. Musicologists now think that it was written as a sort of private requiem for the death of his first wife. It is a very moving piece and one that has inspired musicians, and transcriptions, through the ages.

I noticed that I havr spelt "passionate" in 3 different ways only one of which is right! This is what Bach does to me!

Bach is often considered to be the ultimately cerebral composer and he was. But he was also a pationate person - passionate about music, women, life! This is a pasionate interpretation of one of Bach's essential pieces in which a succession of single notes creates a sense of harmony.
