I don't think it's a federal issue. Generally, if it isn't addressed in the Constitution, the states get to decide. At least in theory -- the feds have taken over a lot of things the Constitution doesn't give them authority over.

Hey,thanx.Had a world of trouble getting back onto YT,lol.I'm being naive,I know,but I just don't get why ALL the States simply don't have a 'uniformly equal' age of consent.Isn't it a federal issue? But then it's just as whacky here in Europe.Some countries,i.e. Holland,has an age of consent at 12,if certain criteria are satisfied.Here in the UK it's equal,(now),at 16.Law-makers & politicians need to get their heads outa the sand.

@popazz1 It's different in different states. For example, in North Carolina, the age of consent is 16, or 14 if there is less than four years age difference between the parties involved (that way a high school senior doesn't go to jail for screwing a freshman). In some, it's 18, period. In Canada I think it's 14 everywhere.

So,what's the age of consent in America,or does it depend on which State the 'offence' occurs?! I don't know how the law works on 'statutory rape'/sexual molestation works in the States.
