Roland Freisler - Hitler's Blood Judge - Part 2

Roland Freisler, president of the Nazi's People Court (Volksgerichtshof), was Hitler's blood judge. Approximately 90% of all proceedings at the Volksgerichtshof ended with sentences of death or life imprisonment, the sentences frequently having been determined before the trial. Between 1942 and 1945 more than 5,000 death sentences were handed out, and of these, 2,600 through the court's First Senate, which Freisler headed. Thus, Freisler alone was responsible, in his three years on the court, for as many death sentences as all other senate sessions of the court together in the entire time the court existed, between 1934 and 1945.

Freisler was particularly known for humiliating defendants and shouting loudly at them. A number of the trials for defendants in the July 20 Plot before the People's Court were filmed and recorded. In the 1944 trial against Ulrich Wilhelm Graf Schwerin von Schwanenfeld, for example, Freisler screamed so loudly, the technicians who were filming the proceeding had major problems making the defendants' words audible. Count Schwerin, like many other defendants in the plot, was sentenced to death by hanging. Among this and other show trials, Freisler headed the 1943 proceedings against the members of the "White Rose" resistance group, and ordered many of its members to be executed by guillotine.

You even have not the slightest idea what the Nazi terror was like. So either you are young or you are naive, maybe both. Millions of Germans were killed, thousands were killed before by their landsmen. And like it or not, also the jews, the communists and catholic victims were German...

@cobrachoppergirl How dare you compare modern prisons to what the victims of the Nazis endured. You obviously have never truly studied in detail the atrocities the Nazis committed, not the least victims of them being the Russians. I recommend studying the Nuremberg War Crimes trials which contain a lot of firsthand witness accounts of Nazi torture. Please, please, attack the subject in seriousness and do some reading and watch videos (YouTube has many 1940s-era videos that will help).

@lukapentsi A lot of us do have plenty idea what Nazi terror was like, because we've been imprisoned and tortured in American prisons. All that nazi tech as far as how concentration camps are built, was brought back after the war... razor wire, guard towers, do not cross lines, leg irons and prison uniforms, work details and calling you names and treating you like human garbage. The Nazis learned this from US Civil War prisons, improved on it, and the US took these back to use in their prisons
