  • Seth, Great question that doesn't have a single answer. I did some filtering yesterday when it was about 90 degrees out (and had been all day). I poured in a cubie (5 gallons) and looked under the lid. It was all filtered as fast as I poured it in. I filtered about 40 gallons in 20 minutes or so. When it is colder out, I sometimes have to leave the full filter bag overnight. I don't filter at all in teh winter. too slow.

  • I bought the filters from Lovecraft Biofuels in LA, CA. I have also bought some filters from McMaster Carr (google them for the website). I use 5 micron filter bags and filter the oil once. I let the oil sit for at least a few days before filtering it. that lets the sediment, water and crud settle to the bottom.

  • How did you secure the bag filter to the top of the drum lid?

  • Thanks for all the answers. I'm going to start my filter system this weekend.

  • What is your rate of filtered oil, gallon per hour? and how long do the filters last?

    Thanks

  • I like your system allot. Its nice and simple. Where do you buy your filters????
