1.the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.

2.the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.

3.a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.

Now how well does religion fit into this definition? Perfectly.

Religions survive over time by creating a culture of fear. Fear OF the religious people and what they might do, fear of LEAVING the religious people for what they might do, fear of leaving a toxic environment for fear of what GOD might do, fear of being outcasted, isolated, hounded, persecuted, and when it becomes the law of the land, prosecuted.

This is 100% what religion teaches, and Christianity is no different.

In essence, Genghis Khan was a terrorist, along with Adolf Hitler, Napoleon and every other piece of shit who've pillaged villages throughout history. And people who don't follow religion are not terrorists; they're not harming anyone by not being religious. You are the dangerous one, with your twisted ideology and mentality that anyone not Muslim is evil and should convert or die.
