  • Hi do you have a video on composite beams in respect to materials? For instance a square beam made up of two sections one of which is AL and the other Steal? I have an exam on monday, would really help!!

  • Nice video just 2 hints. You said Q is the Sum of "A" and "y" and it is not in meters its actually meters ^3, because you have Area(m2)*distance(m) So for Tau (T) you will end up with kN*m^3/m^4*m so you get the desired kN/m^2 for stress.

  • been looking everywhere for a good explanation....

that Q has been driving me nuts.

    .

great job and thanks a bunch :)

    .

oh and keep em comin :P

  • @SymphoDeProggy Glad the video helped. There are definitely more on the way. If you like the videos, please spread the word. - RMF

  • @jamesward299 The centroid of the entire shape will not be equal to the centroid of the bottom strut so there will be a distance from the Neutral Axis to the Centroid of the bottom.

  • What if you have a team beam with a really long vertical strut and the centroid is half way up the vertical strut. Then if you chose to use the box underneath then the distance from the 2 centroids is 0 so tau= 0..... :S Im currently studying Aerospace Engineering in England
