  • I started using this in class and accidentally said "I'm number one"

  • Should I say that everytime I do the move?

  • In wrestling the guy who is on top makes the player on bottom carrying all his weight. There is also no gi involved. So, no way to get out this way from a wrestler pin, and if he is a competent catch wrestler, will look for various submissions, too.

  • @1madinjun You've been dealing with some pretty sad Jiu-jitsu apparently. I've never seen any decent BJJ guy try to control an opponent from the knees in side control. The white belt in the video doesn't count, BTW.

  • @tredub91 What you're talking about is not what Keith is talking about. You're talking about controlling is head downward to avoid being punched but keeping your own elbows in a safe position. What Keith is talking about is hugging to stall and exposing your elbows which exposes you to his use of the gi for control of your arm and an eventual armbar from that controlled position. Two different things. If the person is heavier, sometimes you wait for the right timing to catch him off guard.

  • he sounds like the doctor from the movie Knocked Up. The one that says "wow you do look a lot like your sister."

  • @iwanttofight69 No just make vicious eye contact and speak softly

  • Honestly I have alot of respect for Mr.Owen and Sub101 but this is not a wrestler side control. If you go to any submission wrestling school or Catch wrestling school the first thing you learn is pinning . Its constantly talked about that the hips should be lowered and the weight is on the other guy . The way BJJ controls side is usually this , on the knees . I like BJJ but Even Pablo Popovitch talked about the difference when I trained BJJ at his school . Wrestling + BJJ = Beast .

  • @tredub91 This is BJJ, no strikes are allowed and the groundfight goes on indefinately. From that viewpoint he's right in saying you never should do that.

MMA speaking, what he says you should *never* do, is an opportunity to push your shoulder into his face or throat, and hold them down so you can relax a moment while you wait to be stood up, and he's not getting all the air he needs. From that point of view it's not so bad. Just never ever make the grasp on your own arm get broken.

  • wow thank you...this works

  • is that gsp?

  • I am # 1!
