  • This is probably your video card or cable. The 2711's native resolution requires dual-link dvi. It looks like one of the two channels is being corrupted for some reason. Are you using the cable that came /w the monitor, and what video card are you using?

  • @kssarh I already gave it back, But I did use the dual-link DVI cable that came with the monitor, and I have a Radeon 4870 - Which I believe has no problems with the resolution....

  • on mine it was oxidation between gold and tin connectors of the black sheathed multi wire cable (larger one of the two) coming of the scaler board (those two cables drive the panel itself).... remove stand (torx15), split bezel plastic (be very careful around switch area, as ribbon cables are delicate), remove rear plastic housing only, remove 140x56mm metal access cover, unplug black sheathed connectors from scaler board, clean with contact cleaner

  • @Igneshto Dual Link DVI has nothing to do with left vs right. One cable is for odd pixels, the other is for even pixels. This is a monitor fault.

  • i've had 5 U2711 screens with varying amounts of problems ---- not a single one which worked well ... so the only solution is to stay away from dell ( or at least this screen model )

  • It's an internal connection that's come loose or broken. I think I'm right in saying there are two panels in the U2711 and the connection between the two is faulty, which is why half the screen is fine and half is faulty. It's not a cable issue ;-)

  • I have exactly the same problem with my 2408wfp, it has nothing to do with cables!

If you don't plug any cables in (except for the power cable of course) you will get the same issues in the menu and skipping through connections.

The strange thing is that it will disappear after 1-3 minutes.

Unfortunately >3yrs old, and out of warranty.
