i think it would be great to have a new arena constructed with a retro style exterior, much like the new MLB parks constructed in the last 10-15 years

Joe Louis is very outdated, doesn't have the amenities with todays Rinks, think they outta renovate than build.

PLEASE do this. Lots of great Michigan hockey memories at JLA, but I fear that the upper level is going to collapse that place is so old and beat up looking.
What should happen, is keep JLA up as a hockey museum and keep the ice rink up for open skate or youth games.

@crawdaddy1819 that's true. Also the original olympia was closed because there was a lot of crime in that area

@fore3113 there are no good parts in detroit. they could knock down so many abandoned buildings and make a new staduim with plenty of parking though

Hopefully the Wings get their new arena. They are of of the very best sport's franchises there is. As a Flyers fan, I have to tip my cap to them. Detroit deserves a new modern facility.

The area Joe Louis Arena is in is OK, I've never had a problem there. There is a loop of freeways around central Detroit bounded by I-375, I-75, and M-10. Most of the area in there is OK. The old location of Olympia Stadium is very rough.
