A tribute to lost USAF Aircrew Life Support personnel. This video was shown at the annual Aircrew Life Support/Flight Equipment Reunion in October 2008.
My grandfather was a Life Supporter. He started his career in the AF in 1950. Became pressure suit instructor at Brooks AFB, TX until he was selected for the U-2 program in 1964. Retired from the AF in 71 and continued Life Support until 1994 with the NASA U-2/ER-2 program. Grew up with my grandparents and seen many many launches of the U-2s and ER-2s. Never got old! Only reason why I never got into Life Support, no openings when I enlisted.
He also helped establish the Air Force first Parachute training course in the 1950s.

I miss my Dad John Shields. My son is going into the AF now, signed up waiting for date. I know my Dad would be proud.
