@samuraiprose Batman as a main character is thoroughly uninteresting. After you get past the origin story, it's almost 2-dimensional. The true fun of Batman is watching people's reactions to him, their impressions of him, etc. Without Gordon, the mob, the mayor, the commissioner, etc, I have a feeling that Batman would be thoroughly uninteresting. Christopher Nolan is a great director for realizing this.

At 1:48 I could just imagine a man who has lost everything has a victim who took everything from them at gun point. The man is at the edge and about to just lose it, they slowly cock the revolver and the victim closes their eyes preparing to be shot. All you hear is the music while the man's hand shakes on the trigger, but at 2:24 you hear the revolver thrown to the ground as the man some how gains enough of his sanity back to have mercy on the victim.
