Firefighter Fitness - Schwinn Airdyne Tabata
Here's mhanson51's training partner performing a 4 minute Tabata style warmup on a Schwinn Airdyne. The Tabata principle is a 4 minute set of work with 8, 20 sec. hard/10 sec. rest intervals. It's great to use for building up endurance as well as a great intense cardio workout.
Schwinn Airdyne Tabata:
-20 sec. intense (arms & legs)
-10 sec. rest
-20 sec. intense (arms)
-10 sec. rest
-20 sec. intense (legs)

After the grueling Tabata set, the "Tabata Effect" takes place.

Airdyne is tough enough even without the Tabata intervals. This is a great way to finish off a "cardio" session.

I use these as a finisher to my workout at 20:10 for 4 minutes, rest 3 minutes, then do it all over again.

@2gsons It is also very much an aerobic exercise. Combining Air Dyne and the Tabata protocol results in a high powered, full workout that's safer for the joints. Remember to warm up a good 5-10 minutes before trying this at home.

@97575934534 Rest assured that that's as full a workout as most folks can handle at a time. That guy's has fulfilled his fitness requirement for at least the next 48 hours after that mega-workout.

I love the footage at the end! Looking forward to doing Tabata sprints on a track if Spring ever arrives in MN! Keep up the good work!
