@electroryan Auroras happen when an explosion happens on the sun and sends a solar wind to the poles. This sequence was shot from about 7 at night until after midnight. One frame every 30 seconds.

where is lake dunstan. is it cromwell in sth island new zealand. hope u get the southern lights within the next 24hrs.

@leanda27 Yes - Lake Dunstan is right near Cromwell in Central Otago.
