Topping Out November 4th 2009 Boston Medical Center Part 2

The Carl and Ruth Shapiro Family Foundation has given $15 million to Boston Medical Center (BMC), as part of its Building the New BMC facilities expansion plan, it was announced today. In recognition of their generous support of BMC, the hospital will name the new 245,000-square-foot ambulatory care center the Carl J. and Ruth Shapiro Ambulatory Care Center.
Today they held a ceremony to put the top beam in place on this beautiful new structure. In the morning the people at BMC were asked to go sign the beam. I signed the beam in honor of my grand children. Riley Rose and Baby Lassonde. Riley is 1 and 1/2 and Baby Lassonde will be born next March.
I was very proud to stand in front of that beautiful steel structure and think of all the talented people we have in our unions in Massachusetts. My son Jeff is an electrician in Local 103 following in his grandfather Leo Natale's footsteps also from local 103.
I look forward to the day when my grandchildren will understand the story of the day Grammy wrote their names on the beam at the top of that big building on Albany Street.
