@oceantracks I think it is interesting how there were a lot of 3 piece groups back during the 70s with just bass, drum, and keyboards. The ones that jump to mind are Triumvirat, Refugee, and of course Quatermass. ELP does seem to be the most heavily recognized, though they actually do have guitar throw in for some songs.
@mycuff2 ELP's first album came out the same year, 1970....I didn't discover Quatermass though until far later, they played one of the cuts around 1973 on a station in St Louis and I loved it...having already been an ELP fan...
The Repertoire Records cd release of this album has some out-takes on it... as well as an all-new graphics package by Storm Thorgerson who did the original cover

@oceantracks I think Quatermass came before ELP

Some interesting moments on this album but basically there was already an Emerson Lake & Palmer, with much better vocals and stronger writing.

The bass riff was copied by an incredible lot of bands in the following years.

Note to SuperGeorge53:
I agree*...this is MY *ALL-TIME UBER-MEGA-RAVE-FAVE* from that lone Eponymous 1970 LP.
I wonder if there are any outtakes of those sessions that EMI might have in their vaults? (Colin Miles & Nick Mobbs, are you listening?)
Thanx fer this, m8..
