Little random one as I received a comment "surprised" that I, an advocate of using 'shallow' enclosures to prevent falls, was using an ExoTerra 30x30x30 "cube" for my Brachypelma auratum (Mexican Flameknee). I just wanted to show it's safe, and how to make it so. I also wanted to show her off a little!

  • just a thought..what if a t gets it's claw stuck in the top vent?.

I ask as I've seen a guy use hard plastic to replace the grill because some t's do get stuck...

So how would you help one that is stuck...

and is replacing the grill a good idea if you had other pets the were nosey..

ie cats because isn't t venom bad for them.

  • @johnbc62 I've never had it happen, and a few Ts have crawled across the top of the enclosure. I only keep Ts in these that don't tend to climb.

  • Why do you use common names???

  • @JensTwn I use both. Common names to hook in the new folk, Scientific Names to designate the species accurately.

  • You really care about your spiders. Awesome vid.

  • @TheNeonTide

    Way to be a dick

  • in all honesty, no one wants to see your face. its not that ur ugly or anything but the general audience doesnt want to see your face.

  • @arachnoph0bia ok.

  • @arachnoph0bia IMO the newfolk should learn the scientific names from the start.

The risk of confusion is much lower that way instead of lmprinting them with those "red leg" names from the start. There are a whole bunch of genuses with redlegs for an example.

  • @SuperKayakmaniac The fake "cacti" in there is actually a plastic grass. It's very soft and spongey, and from having fallen onto them myself, can attest to how soft it actually is!
