  • In the 16 years of the Vietnam War, 58,000 GI's died. That's the number of people who die every year in the U.S. from colon cancer. Peter Yarrow fought to end the Vietnam War and Walter Cronkite of CBS was influential in ending it after the Tet Offensive. It is heartwarming to see Yarrow and CBS on the same side all these years later to take on a cancer that kills ten times the number of Americans than the Vietnam War. Catchy song btw!

  • This is right up there with Dave Barry's accounting of his colonoscopy a few years ago. Required viewing for all people 50 - plus!

  • I still get quite a kick out of this song! Bravo Peter!

  • @GMPNY They gave us BUCKETS of salt water in the 90ies... :-(

  • @startrekkin1701 Believe me, you are not in a mood for laughing while they are actually doing it to you...

  • @BlazingFerret Read my comment to FoxtrotCharlie50. I don't know much at all about the history of the Vietnam War, so I won't speak on that. I met Peter Yarrow though and he has a sickening smugness about him. I don't believe for a second that this man did a damn thing to bring peace to our species. No one likes killing and no one likes being killed. It should end. But "good intentions" doesn't do shit. If you hurt someone, reality doesn't actually care that you didn't mean to

  • @tpstrat14 "Peter Yarrow & his pacifist bullshit"

He is a repulsive human being, and phony as hell. He found a profitable "message" to sell to the gullible, though.

I thought it was hilarious when he went to jail for fucking some 13-yr-old in D.C. tho he didn't get caught til she was 14. The best thing about it was that he was scrambling desperately for bail & lawyer $ in 1970, so I bought his Fender Villager (acoustic 12-string) for 250 bucks.

Like him, the neck was a bit warped

  • @FoxtrotCharlie50 Peter Yarrow fought to end the Vietnam war? Fuck that. He fought to gain fame and fortune in the form of people praising him for ending the Vietnam war. You can see it in his demeanor, can't you? Well, I can. I met the man and he's chock full of smugness. No pain or empathy resides in this man for the people who died and suffered because of the Vietnam war. Only happiness for all the people that didn't die as a result of him being their savior. Newsflash: ya didn't save 1 life!

  • @BlazingFerret I hate Peter Yarrow and his pacifist bullshit. It's preachy. How could anyone like being preached to? YUCK... saw him in concert and that's all he did was preach, preach, preach. I hate hippies..

  • @tpstrat14 "He didn't help end any war"

I have no problem giving him the blame for that, since the self-righteous, mindless hippies & cowardly draft-dodgers certainly affected the equally mindless Democrat politicians that sold out the South Vietnamese (and millions of other Asians) and caused them to be butchered by the Communists.

Ask any of the Boat People (the ones lucky enough to survive) how grateful they are for the "reeducation" camps & slaughtered families.

  • @FoxtrotCharlie50 "Peter Yarrow fought to end the Vietnam War and Walter Cronkite of CBS was influential in ending it after the Tet Offensive"

For which they should rot in hell forever for causing the slaughter that the North Vietnamese inflicted on uncounted millions.

The mindless rabble somehow still believe that the Tet Offensive was some sort of victory for the North -- even though even tho the NVA's own Gen. Giap admitted it was a disaster for them.

  • Still one of my favorite songs...funny.
