A short demo of my Roland JV-35 with the VE-JV1 expansion card. The intro music was also made with this synth.
In my opinion, it's a great PCM synth.

  • This is out of date. Why bul shit u r wasting your money and time with this garbage??

  • @samarpandas Well, go ahead and buy me something better :DDD btw the JV-35 is still a great performance synth, but I traded it for a rack mixer two years ago.

  • Hello, question here from the Netherlands.

I've got a Roland JV-35 and am lookin for expansion boards. Good sounds.

How can I find out which expansion boards are compatible with the JV-35?

(I'm a bassist and guitarplayer, sometimes using synths, so don't have a big knowledge in this matter..)

    Regards,

    Renger

  • Hi,

for the JV-35 (and JV-50) two expansion cards were made. However, there is only expansion slot on the synth.

    The two cards are:

    - VE-GS1, which is a polyphony doubler. There are no new sounds included, but the polyphony raises from 28 to 56 voices.

    - VE-JV1, which is a "real" expansion card. This has some great synth pads, leads, drums and a decent muted guitar sound. I think there are 512 patches on that card. In the intro of this video almost all patches were from this card.

  • Very Kewl vid and some gud music. Just a bit of an opinion and Constructive critisism, coming from a Synthesizer Player, Lift Your Wrists up and dont put two fingers on a key it makes it ook slightly childish. Have a look at some of ma vids when i post them for more info.

  • Thanks! My wrists are down because the synth was on the top "floor" of the stand (above the Roland D-10) and it was too high... Anyway, I'm not used to put more than one finger on a key, but sometimes it happens (because of the wrong position of the keyboard or my hands)

  • how sensitive are the keys?

  • is this a pre-JV80 series keyboard?

  • @samarpandas I have this keyboard. I also have several synths from a decade earlier. They may be old but they are definitely not "out of date". (Say that to someone who plays a 300 year old violin!)

  • The JV-35 was my first Keyboard. I bought it new for $1100 (Yikes!) and I still use it as a MIDI controller and one of my sound modules to this day. There are quite a few decent sounds buried in it's drab 90's housing. The piano sounds are excellent and are far better than similarly priced YAMAHA or Korg keyboards from the same period.

Don't underestimate this keyboard. With a little know-how you can pull some great music out of it.

    Enjoy!

  • @modgemtb when the OCT1 switch is on, the synth will play everything you play an octave higher, but still retaining the original pitch... the OCT2 does the same, but for two octaves...

so if both switches are on, and you press the middle C (that's C3), C4 and C5 will play along on the selected patch... I hope you got the point

  • hi i noticed some toggles on the keyboard saying octave 1 octave 2 etc but what does this mean would you be able to have a bassy sound in the bass cleff (iand i mean hard bassy) and a really leading strong sound in the treble, please reply , thanks

  • It still makes a nice midi controller, all the hate cracks me up.

  • The first sound makes me think of Christmas! Your film was very enjoyable and you play well, please ignore rude comments from people who can't write or spell.

  • @AttilaSVK , dont get furious..u may use some great vsts with a midi keyboard.that'll add ur mixing wit a great quality..for more suggessions reply me:) god bless
