Blue Moon of Kentucky

This is my take of that Billy Monroe song. He originally played it in 3/4 time. I do it in 4/4 time and I am influenced by Elvis Presley. Elvis sings it in A. Well I tried to get that high, my blood pressure went up to 300 so I decided to stay in E. I placed my mobile phone on the chimney, sat down and did the song. No overdubs no tricks, it's plain live. Guitar used: Larrivée L03 R. A fine instrument for such kind of traditional picking. Tuning: EADGBE.

You have an interesting right hand technique.. You must have been a flat picker and moved over to finger picking, 'cause you don't use your index finger for finger picking.

I don't really know how and why I got into that kind of picking but I started finger picking right from the beginning. I do use my index finger ever once in a while if it is inevitable, if I play "Last Steam Engine Train" for instance. Now that I got into flatpicking lately I try to combine both techniques but I do not have the right feel with that hybrid picking.

Very good! I'm sure I saw Carl Perkins do this song on a DVD, but can't remember for sure. I'm going to learn it! Here's a tip I found the other day, you can make your videos widescreen if you type: yt:crop=16:9 as the last tab, on the edit page.
