Wine glass shatters with sound

This is a filmed exercise of the University of Salford (UK) in which they shatter a wine glass using nothing but a high-pitched noise. Look at the decibel meter, and note at which decibel level the glass breaks.

Sounds like a different 'octave' of 600Hz, probably about 60-65 phons. (or decibels)

yeah I was commenting on the guy below me who said it read 1200 decibels 1200 would be the loudest thing ever recorded on earth

a human experiences PAIN at just 120 decibles, and 1200 decibels would maybe literally explode our heads !!

it doesnt even sound like a high pitched Hz

it sound like more of a high-mid ranged Hz.

looks like 132.9 to me. theres no meter that can achieve 1200dbs

That was sweet. I wish you'd have used a high-speed camera to catch the vibration in the glass, too. I mean, we could all see the vibration in the glass, but still.
