Autosnelweg A1 eastbound, from interchange Beekbergen near Apeldoorn to Deventer-Oost. This video includes left shoulder running, a concept only used in the Netherlands to my knowledge. It is not a HOV or HOT lane.

Enjoyed the ride, I've seen a few places in the US that use the right shoulder as a lane in peak hours, but it's a solid white line, they way they have the left lane here would seriously mess with me :)

Why couldn't you use the left lane before? Why that red cross?

@wipandco They will open the left shoulder once traffic volumes exceed 3,000 vehicles per hour per direction (2 lanes). However, with the high truck volumes on this section, you are often stuck behind trucks passing each other.
They should convert it to a permanent 3rd lane in my opinion. There are even plans for 8 lanes on this section around 2020.
